摘要:Burn injury is one of the most devastating injuries that may affect a patient. Even in economically deprived areas, burn care is largely driven by relatively plentiful resources equating quality of care with generous monitoring and clinical attention with little concern to management cost. Burn care costs have been the subject of very few investigations and are among the least studied by health services researchers. Nevertheless, it can be stated that local care of burn wounds accounts for a large proportion of the cost per day for treating patients. As economic times are changing and as market penetration of managed care contracts and stiff competition in the health care industry gains momentum, ways to reduce expenditures without adversely affecting the quality of care have become of primary importance. We report a randomized prospective comparative study analyzing the benefit-cost value of moist exposed burn ointment (MEBO) application, an exposed method for burn wound care without the need for a secondary covering dressing, as compared to conventional closed methods.
摘要:Background Dermal burns (partial thickness burns) are the most painful trauma with two types of pain background pain with additional procedural pain, one of the best tolerable mode of treatment that commonly used now adays is treatment with MEBT ointments to maintain the moist and warm wound environment suitable for regeneration of epidermal cells, and to reduces pain. Moist wound dressings retain moisture, heat, body fluids, and biofilm with medication. The assumption is that the polyethylene film will maintain the ointment and its effect more than to be used merely. Patients and methods Prospective study to evaluate treatment of patients with partial thickness burns conservatively with MEBT ointment as a control group and MEBT ointment + Cling Film, 63 patients being admitted to the burn center at Azadi teaching hospital during a period of one year starting from June 2018 till June 2019. The inclusion criteria including all patients between 10-95% partial thickness burns of various age, sex and skin types. Results Very much decrease in procedural and background pain, better joint movement in physiotherapy decrease in crust formation, increase maceration of eschar, better cost- effectiveness, less days of hospital stay. Aim in Iraq circumstances we have to use the most cost effective measures to reach our goals in managing the burn wounds the moist trend which is now being proved it gives better healing with less pain, with best criteria of wound dressing . Conclusion Easily applicable, less painful, non-coasty over all, better condition of patient during course of management, reduced length of hospital stay and lower treatment costs, appropriate wound healing with living tissue , less joint stiffness problems.
摘要:This study explored the effects of Moist Exposed Burn Ointment (MEBO) on the healing process of pressure-induced wounds. Using a stage IV pressure ulcer model established in 42 rats, divided equally into a control gel group and an MEBO group, we investigated the efficacy of MEBO through topical application. The control group received Carbomer gel, while the MEBO group was treated with MEBO until complete wound healing. Results showed that MEBO significantly accelerated wound healing compared to the control group. Histological analysis, including hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining and Masson’s trichrome staining, revealed enhanced epithelialization and collagen deposition in the MEBO group. Furthermore, 16S rRNA sequencing indicated that MEBO reduced microbial diversity at the wound site and reshaped the microbial composition. Notably, The increased abundance of Acinetobacter and Staphylococcus, coupled with a reduction in Pseudomonas, may reflect a shift in the wound microbiome that could be conducive to healing. However, the exact role of these microbial shifts in promoting wound healing requires further investigation, as microbial dynamics in wound environments are complex and context-dependent. These findings suggest that MEBO facilitates wound healing by optimizing the wound microbiome, thereby offering a promising therapeutic approach for managing pressure ulcers.
