摘要:This study explored the effects of Moist Exposed Burn Ointment (MEBO) on the healing process of pressure-induced wounds. Using a stage IV pressure ulcer model established in 42 rats, divided equally into a control gel group and an MEBO group, we investigated the efficacy of MEBO through topical application. The control group received Carbomer gel, while the MEBO group was treated with MEBO until complete wound healing. Results showed that MEBO significantly accelerated wound healing compared to the control group. Histological analysis, including hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining and Masson’s trichrome staining, revealed enhanced epithelialization and collagen deposition in the MEBO group. Furthermore, 16S rRNA sequencing indicated that MEBO reduced microbial diversity at the wound site and reshaped the microbial composition. Notably, The increased abundance of Acinetobacter and Staphylococcus, coupled with a reduction in Pseudomonas, may reflect a shift in the wound microbiome that could be conducive to healing. However, the exact role of these microbial shifts in promoting wound healing requires further investigation, as microbial dynamics in wound environments are complex and context-dependent. These findings suggest that MEBO facilitates wound healing by optimizing the wound microbiome, thereby offering a promising therapeutic approach for managing pressure ulcers.

摘要:Considering the high consumption of and preference for traditional treatments among people and the lack of enough studies on the effectiveness of these treatments, we aimed to review articles on the use of traditional and complementary medicine, focusing on how they affect healing, debridement, and hypertrophic scars. In this study, we conducted the literature search in international databases PubMed, Google Scholar, Ovid, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library, as well as Persian databases Scientific Information Database (SID), Magiran, Iranmedex, and IranDoc. Retrieved hits were reviewed by three authors for screening based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the screening process is expressed as Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses framework flow chart. Twenty-two studies were included. The evaluated outcomes were wound healing in 19, pain control in 5, itching in 4, and scar appearance in 2 studies. All of the studies showed equal or improved effects compared to common treatments. Aloe vera, Centella asiatica, and Arnebia euchroma were the most common plants. We revealed that traditional medicine is beneficial in burn wound treatment. The diversity in ingredients that are used in traditional medicine brings up the need for further controlled prospective studies to evaluate the precise superiority of these treatments compared to standard care.

Kwon, Mi Hye; Yoon, Jee-Hyun; Kim, Eun Hye; Lee, Jee Young; Yoon, Seong Woo Department of Korean Internal Medicine, Korean Medicine Cancer Center, Kyung Hee University Hospital at Gangdong, Seoul, Korea Journal of Korean Traditional Oncology 2020

摘要:Objective : Radiodermatitis is a common sequelae in 95% of patients receiving radiation therapy, which is important to be well managed as it can affect the patient's quality of life as well as the cancer treatment schedule. The aim of this study is to review and summarize the interventions available for the treatment of acute radiodermatitis, including traditional Korean medicine, and to propose treatment algorithms for clinicians. Methods : To collect studies about managements for radiodermatitis, domestic and foreign database were used such as Korean journal of traditional knowledge portal (KTKP), Korean studies information service system (KISS), national discovery or science leaders (NDSL), and oriental medicine advance searching integrated system (OASIS), Pubmed, Google scholar and Scopus. Results : Thirty-two studies were selected. There were nine studies on usual care and dressing, eleven studies on chemical agents, two studies on biological preparations, and ten studies on herbal medicines. Conclusion : Hygienic options and dressings have proved to be useful in the management of radiodermatitis. Chemical agents such as corticosteroid, statin, and topical antibiotic agent have proved to alleviate symptoms and severity, regenerate damaged skin, and prevent secondary

A comprehensive evidence-based review on the role of topicals and dressings in the management of skin scarring
Sidgwick, G. P.; McGeorge, D.; Bayat, A. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Research, Institute of Inflammation and Repair, Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences, Manchester Institute of Biotechnology, University of Manchester, 131 Princess Street, Manchester M1 7DN, UK; Grosvenor Nuffield Hospital, Wrexham Road, Chester CH4 7QP, England, UK Archives of Dermatological Research 2015

摘要:Wound healing after dermal injury is an imperfect process, inevitably leading to scar formation as the skin re-establishes its integrity. The resulting scars have different characteristics to normal skin, ranging from fine-line asymptomatic scars to problematic scarring including hypertrophic and keloid scars. Scars appear as a different colour to the surrounding skin and can be flat, stretched, depressed or raised, manifesting a range of symptoms including inflammation, erythema, dryness and pruritus, which can result in significant psychosocial impact on patients and their quality of life. In this paper, a comprehensive literature review coupled with an analysis of levels of evidence (LOE) for each published treatment type was conducted. Topical treatments identified include imiquimod, mitomycin C and plant extracts such as onion extract, green tea, Aloe vera, vitamin E and D, applied to healing wounds, mature scar tissue or fibrotic scars following revision surgery, or in combination with other more established treatments such as steroid injections and silicone. In total, 39 articles were included, involving 1703 patients. There was limited clinical evidence to support their efficacy; the majority of articles (n?=?23) were ranked as category 4 LOE, being of limited quality with individual flaws, including low patient numbers, poor randomisation, blinding, and short follow-up periods. As trials were performed in different settings, they were difficult to compare. In conclusion, there is an unmet clinical need for effective solutions to skin scarring, more robust long-term randomised trials and a consensus on a standardised treatment regime to address all aspects of scarring.
