摘要:IntroductionConventional management of partial thickness facial burn wounds includes the use of silver sulphadiazine dressings. Silver sulphadiazine forms an overlying slough that makes wound healing assessment difficult. Moist exposed burn ointment (MEBO) has been proposed as the ideal burn wound dressing both for burns of the face and other sites. Proponents of MEBO claim that it accelerates wound healing and results in scarless wound healing and at the same time reduce bacterial colonisation and the need for analgesics. We present here our experience with MEBO in the management of partial thickness burns of the face.Materials and methodsOne hundred and fifteen patients with partial thickness burns were randomly assigned to conventional treatment or MEBO. Out of this, 112 were analysed. Thirty-nine patients sustained facial burns; 17 received MEBO and 22 received silver sulphadiazine. Patients were followed up daily until the burn wounds were reduced by 75% of original body surface area (BSA).ResultsIn patients with facial burns, MEBO was similar to silver sulphadiazine therapy with respect to rate of wound healing. Minimal slough was present over the wounds in MEBO-treated wounds resulting in clearer assessment of healing progression.ConclusionsAdvantages of MEBO as compared to silver sulphadiazine in the management of partial thickness burns of the face include convenient change of dressing and easier assessment of healing progression. This suggests that MEBO is a useful alternative therapy for partial thickness burns of the face.
摘要:Methodology: This is a retrospective study that includes reviewing the electronic prescriptions that included MEBO among the patients who received medications from the outpatient department in a public hospital in Alkharj. Results: More than 61% of the patients who received MEBO ointment were female patients and about 61.98% of them received MEBO ointment for 1 week. Most of the prescribers were residents (76.86%). More than 46% of the prescriptions were prescribed by emergency department, about 24% were prescribed by plastic surgery department. Conclusion: The use of MEBO ointment in the outpatient setting in Alkharj was uncommon. Further studies are needed to explore the pattern of using burn treating ointments such as MEBO ointment in the outpatient setting and in other settings.
摘要:Objective: From molecular, cell and systemic clinical treatment three levels, this report revealed the mechanism of wound healing, the basic theory and the importance of clinical practice for the Burn Regenerative Therapy with MEBT/MEBO (BRT & MEBT/MEBO).Method: This report analyzed the importance and clinical curative effect for standardized appliance of BRT & MEBT/MEBO from two key points: 1) Liquefaction of necrotic tissue from burn wound; 2) Skin regenerationin situ. Result: There are three necessary conditions for skin physiologically repair and regeneration of burn wound: 1) The formation of moist physiological environment on burn wound; 2) The material foundation of life regenerative substances and histology for keratin-19 stem cells' regenerationin situ; 3) Standardized procedures and appliance of BRT & MEBT/MEBO, which is the guarantee of burn wound healing physiologically. Conclusion: The theory of “Potential Regenerative Cell" and the technique of “Stem cellin situregeneration" are ...
摘要:Background:? This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of CO2 fractional laser combined with Mebo burn ointment in treating facial postoperative scars. Methods:? Sixty patients with facial postoperative scars in the department of plastic surgery of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital from January 2020 to June 2022 were divided into a control group (30 cases) and a study group (30 cases). Both groups received CO2 fractional laser treatment, but the study group also received Mebo burn ointment application. Results:? The study found that both methods resulted in a significant decrease in Sawada score and a significant increase in Investigator Global Assessment score after treatment (P < 0.05), with the study group showing a more significant improvement and higher patient satisfaction (P < 0.05). All patients experienced varying degrees of bleeding, swelling, and erythema immediately after treatment, with two cases of pigmentation and two cases of persistent erythema in the control group, and one case of pigmentation and one case of persistent erythema in the study group. Adverse reactions were minimal, with the study group showing better tolerance. Conclusions:? The study suggests that CO2 fractional laser combined with Mebo burn ointment is an effective and safe treatment for facial postoperative scars.
