摘要:The time profile of total proteins and albumin in line with two amino acids, Phe and Glu, are of great importance due to their indicative value of the healing and/or deterioration of burn wounds. In this experiment, rats exposed to scalding that produced a second-degree burn were divided into four groups: control, placebo, MEBO ointment, and copper (I) nicotinate complex ointment (an antioxidant anti-inflammatory) for four weeks. The three treatments showed noticeable similarities in the Phe profiles, with a slight drop 24 hours post burn, a peak elevation by the second week, and a slight, insignificant decline by the third week, with the placebo group showing highest values over normal (P< 0.05). In the Glu profile, large differences were observed: two set profiles, one representing MEBO and copper (I) nicotinate showed one peak in the second week, and the other representing placebo showed two peaks in the first and third weeks. Albumin and total protein time profiles showed the same trend throughout the whole experiment, and are in line with a reformed metabolic state parallel to wound closure. These results reveal that MEBO and copper nicotinate have comparable effects on wound healing in scald burns, and that plasma Glu profile is a better systemic indicator reflecting the regularity and steadiness of the healing process in MEBO and copper complex treatment.
摘要:Objective: Hard-to-heal wounds are a global health challenge, and effective treatments are still lacking. Moist exposed burn ointment (MEBO) and maggots are traditional treatments for promoting wound healing. This study was a preliminary exploration of combined maggot therapy and MEBO in the treatment of hard-to-heal wounds.Method: A coexistence experiment was conducted to determine the survival rates of maggots in MEBO. The maggots were placed in two different existence conditions: one set in MEBO (MEBO group), and another set as the control group (no MEBO) to compare survival rates. Case reports describe the use of the combined application of MEBO and maggots in the treatment of patients with hard-to-heal wounds. Results: The coexistence experiment indicated that maggots in the MEBO group had a higher survival rate. From the therapeutic effect of the clinical cases (n=7), the combined application was safe and effective, with all the reported wounds eventually healing. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, we believe the combined application of MEBO and maggots is a promising way of promoting wound healing. Further studies and clinical trials are needed to elucidate the mechanism of the combined application in promoting wound healing and to more persuasively clarify the therapeutic effect.
摘要:Wound healing is complex and wound dressings are an integral part of the healing process. Covered wounds heal more quickly than open wounds. We have used moist exposed burn ointment (MEBO) in an attempt to evaluate its efficacy. This study showed MEBO is safe, effective, and shortens the time of treatment, as well as reducing the chance of wound infection, resulting in very good overall aesthetic results.
摘要:Background. To investigate the efficacy and safety of MEBO combined with Jinhuang powder for the treatment of diabetic foot with infection. Methods. From August 2015 to August 2019, patients with diabetic foot in our hospital were divided into the treatment group and control group. The treatment group was treated with moist exposed burn ointment (MEBO) combined with Jinhuang powder, while the control group was treated with MEBO only. Results. After one week of treatment, the effective rate in the treatment group was 100%, and the effective rate in the control group was only 76%. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The wound pain score was 2.40 ± 1.38 in the treatment group and 3.76 ± 1.85 in the control group. The difference was statistically significant (P < 0.01). After one month of treatment, the effective rate of wound healing was 92.0% in the treatment group and 68% in the control group. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion. MEBO combined with Jinhuang powder is effective in treating diabetic foot with infection wound.
