Osman, Shokhan; Amin, Zahra Abdulqader Department of Pharmacognosy, College of Pharmacy, Hawler Medical University, Erbil, Iraq Zanco Journal of Medical Sciences (Zanco J Med Sci) 2020

摘要:Background and objective: Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays an important role in the coagulation pathways of living organisms. A popular application of vitamin K has been used to help in the extravascular removal of blood from the skin. The aim of the present study was to test the wound healing effect of vitamin K and some common wound dressing agents available in Erbil city clinical settings such; the moist exposed burn ointment (MEBO) and the Cica silver spray to test their combination with vitamin K injections. Methods: Six groups of albino rats were used (6 rats in each group). Group M received Mebo ointment, Group Creceived Cica silver spray, Group K received Vitamin K injection, Group MK received Mebo ointment+vitamin K injection.Group CK received Cica silver spray +vitamin K Group, and Group N received no- treatment. The duration of the experiments was as 7, 14, and 21 days post wound surgery. The percentage of wound contraction was measured, and the blood serum was collected to test the level of transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF). Results: Data presented in our study showed that the best wound contraction percentage(99%) was obtained by the MK treated rats compared to the control group. Similar results were obtained fromTGFβ and PDGF data in which MK group showed a significant increase in the levels of these growth factors. Conclusion: The wound healing process is supposed to be due to an increase of TGFβ, PDGF, and enhanced fibroblast proliferation and neovascularization of tissues.

摘要:Objective: To investigate the mechanism of the effect of Moist Exposed Burn Therapy (MEBT) and Moist Exposed Burn Ointment (MEBO) on the spontaneous repair and healing of superficial third degree burn wound involving fatty layer. Method: A series of skin tissue samples were taken from deep burn wounds of 2 cases. Immunocytochemistry method, biotin-avidin DCS system, and indirect immunofluorescence technique were applied. Mouse anti-human keratin type 19 monoclonal antibody was used to detect regenerative epidermal stem cells in wound tissues. Results: Epidermal regenerative stem cells emerged at 24 hours post burn, and the number of epidermal regenerative stem cell increased on day 4 post burn. On days 7 and 14 post burn, the number of epidermal stem cells increased to the peak level. On days 21 and 28 post burn, it decreased and disappeared gradually as burn wound progressed to healing. Conclusion: MEBT/MEBO has the effect of promoting the activation and proliferation of epidermal regenerative stem cells in ...

Al-Ali, Kasim Obaid Hussein; Kurkoosh, Haider Yihya; Al-Bawi, Abbas khudair Hadi College of Medicine, Al Muthanna University, Al-Hussein Teaching Hospital, Samawa; General Surgeon, Al-Hussein Teaching Hospital, Samawa Journal of Medical and Oral Biosciences ( JMOB) 2025

摘要:Burn injuries are considered one of the major sources of trauma that might lead to substantial morbidity and mortality. Severe burns cause multiple organ dysfunction and even sometimes organ failure, leading to debility and subsequent scarring that affects the quality of life and mental health. Consequently, this study is designed to compare the outcomes of two burn treatment modalities in patients suffering from burn injuries who were admitted to the Burn Unit / AL-Hussein Teaching Hospital / Samawa / Al-Muthanna Governorate. A clinical study was established during the period from December 2018 to January 2022 60 patients of both sexes suffered from different burn injuries. All patients are treated with Moist Exposed Burn Ointment -MEBO- or with covered classic methods using silver sulphadiazine cream dressings. Follow-up of treated patients is done to evaluate the treatment outcome. Our study included 44 burned and 16 scalded cases of different age groups, with second and third burn degrees extending on different body surface areas ranging from 30-60% in males and 30-70% in females.  Of 60 patients, 40 females (67%) were between 10 and 40 years old, and 20 males (33%) were between 3 and 36 years old. The mortality percentages were 7 (23.3%) and 2 (6.6 %) cases out of a total of 60 patients for the conventional method and MEBO-treated group, respectively. Sepsis was observed in most dead cases, manifested by foul-smelling wound discharge and necrotic non-viable wound tissues, in addition to pneumonia and bronchitis. Pseudomonas sp, Klebsiella sp, and Proteus sp were isolated from these cases by culture and sensitivity tests.  In conclusion, this study showed that the MEBO cream application in treating burned injuries revealed dramatic curative hopeful results with less liability for infective and septic complications compared with the conventional method, represented by the Sulphadiazine cream application. The authors recommend using treatment in burn units instead of using the routine old conventional method to avoid the expected morbidity and mortality and gain acceptable cosmetic results.

The Application of Moist Exposed Burn Ointment (MEBO) and Binahong Leaves in Treating Partial Thickness Burn : A Case Report
Prasetyo, Arif Tri; Heridadi, Eko Division of Plastic Surgery Kediri General Hospital, East Java, Indonesia. Jurnal Plastik Rekonstruksi 2013

摘要:Background: Burn healing is dependent on good wound care management. Infection is one of the cause of wound healing failure. Infectious wound should be treated immediately. Binahong’s leaves is trusted as traditional herbal medicine which is considered capable to help wound healing process. Patient and Method: A 35 years old women suffer from scald and got 3% surface partial thickness burn at her right hand. The patient was initialy treated by application of MEBO. After a week patient came and felt uncomforted with the gauze. So, binahong’s leaves was patched on her wound to help the wound healing process. Result: After a week with binahong’s leaves therapy, the epithelialization is good and there was no infection. The result is satisfactory. Conclusion: This study shows that binahong’s leaves can be used to help wound healing process.
